POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENTS

Putting The Power Back In Your Hands

With the volatility of the price of power, more and more companies are looking for a way to fix their long-term power costs. While also reducing their environmental footprint, a Power Purchase Agreement is the perfect solution to purchasing your power directly from green generators, whether it's as part of a "Sleeved" PPA or a "Private Wire" PPA, to help future proof your organisations ongoing costs. A PPA is a long-term contract to buy renewable energy at a fixed price, with an agreed volume bespoke to each organisations specific needs. Power purchase agreements are popular with companies and local authorities as a reliable way of decarbonising their energy consumption. PPA's are not only financially beneficial to both parties, but also help to secure future investment in renewable development

Why Sign Up To A PPA?

Clean supply of energy, traceable to a specific renewable asset

Possibility of branding the renewable energy asset

   Competitively priced energy cost

Energy stability and predictability, both in amount and price

PPA is adaptable to a client's needs

What Is A "Private Wire" PPA?

This is where we will look at the bespoke energy needs of the organisation, then design and install a specific renewable energy system at no upfront cost to the client. A private wire PPA requires proximity of the generator to the offtakers premises, so that a physical wire can be connected. In most cases the offtaker will still need to be connected to the grid to supply any additional power they require.

One benefit of a private wire PPA is that it is a bilateral contract between the generator and the offtaker, meaning there is no need for a third party licensed supplier. During the agreed term of the PPA, the client has the peace of mind of a fixed rate for their energy, with us taking care of all on going maintenance. At the end of the agreed PPA term the asset is either transfered to the client or removed free of charge

What Is A "Sleeved" PPA?

A sleeved PPA is where a third-party utility company (licensed Supplier) "sleeves" an agreed amount of power produced by the generator, then delivers it to the off taker. If the agreed amount of power isn't enough to meet the customer's demands, it is also the responsibility of the utility company to supply any additional power that is required.

Under the Sleeved PPA, the generator sells the pre-determined amount of power to the off taker for an agreed price. This could be a fixed price or index linked. The Licensed supplier will charge a fee to the off taker to act as the intermediary, but sale of the power is still between the generator and the off taker.
