Our projects provide landowners with a long term 25 to 40 year, index linked, income opportunity. Together with our project partners, we bare all development costs, meaning that you won't be exposed to any financial risk, including all reasonable legal and professional fees. Dependant on the project you may be able to continue certain activities on the land, maximising your income potential while also increasing the environmental benefits. So, what are the main benefits to leasing your land to a renewable energy project?
With a renewable energy project such as solar and battery storage, you will have the peace of mind that your land will be generating a guaranteed income for a known number of years, generally indexed linked to ensure your income will follow market growth. Developers actively seek out land used for agricultural practices for renewable energy projects, due to the land requirement for flat land cleared of obstacles. The rent we pay is expected to exceed revenue generated from agricultural endeavours or dormant land.
Few people know first-hand the impact that climate change can have than farmers and landowners. The increasing global temperatures and more extreme weather conditions contribute to late season frosts, higher flooding risks, increases in crop pest and pathogens and increasing drought severity and occurrences. By leasing your land to a renewable energy project, you are contributing to sustaining the farming industry for future generations.
Solar projects have a relatively short construction period, so there is minimal disruption to the surrounding community when they are installed. Whilst in operation, a solar farm generates no noise, no emissions, emits no light pollution and involves no vehicle traffic. When compared to other development opportunities that a landowner may look to build, such as housing or commercial facilities, a renewable energy project is much less obtrusive to the surrounding community.
As well as containing a solar farm, the land can also be used for other farming opportunities. This could be anything from the grazing of livestock to the growing of certain crops such as heirloom tomatoes and peppers which need less sunlight, in fact it has been shown that growing them under panels mean they require less water. There is also the opportunity within the solar site boundary for the planting of pollinator gardens and maintaining beehives, in fact many developers are already taking it upon themselves to do this.
Leasing to a renewable energy developer guarantees an income while your land still appreciates. The land stays in your family while generating income and acting as a landbank. At the end of your lease term, if required, the land will be returned to its original state or 'ready to plant' at no additional cost to you.
LAND DESIGNATIONS
Projects can't be built on land with certain designations. These include area such as Sites of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI) and National Parks.
FLOOD ZONES
Land that is designated as a flood risk area may not be suitable for a renewable energy project.
LAND TYPES
We build projects designed for industrial and rural land. Areas of land that are traditionally used for agricultural purposes are generally sort after by developers, as they are usually large flat areas that are cleared of obstacles.
LOCATION
Generally, a project will need to be in close proximity to either the grid network or a substation. However, if this isn't the case, we do have the option to look at the viability of a Green Hydrogen site.
